New Beginnings

Starting a new chapter is always scary. The terrain is unfamiliar; you’re directionless and unsure about where to go. You have no idea what you’re doing, yet you’re expected to do so much. There are too many expectations about what the future is supposed to hold, so to combat that you stay in your comfort zone.

Of course, it's easy to do at first, but if you’re not careful your comfort zone can also become a dead zone. That means any hopes and dreams, or passion projects you always wanted to achieve become lost in the empty void that is time. For too long, I let my comfort zone control my world. But no matter how comfortable and happy I thought I was, I knew something was missing.

I started No Hiatus because I was ready to step outside my comfort zone. It was time I got out of my head and into the world with other people. And if you ask my friends, I’ve always had the urge to help others. As someone who received a lot of support when I first started out in the industry, I always wondered how I could repay that kindness back? That’s when it hit me.

If you can’t pay it back, then pay it forward. That’s why I made No Hiatus.

I started this project to help others find their way through the stressful and unfamiliar world that is the animation industry. I hope that in combination with the services, workshops, and events provided, this part of the site will help bring clarity to anyone who needs it.

As I said, I need to get out of my head because I’m someone who spends too much of their time overthinking - ex: this project took a year to start.

But what if, instead of thinking, analyzing, and questioning everything by myself, I do them out loud with all of you?

In this blog, you can expect to read about my thoughts, life lessons, musings, recommendations, and advice on everything from animation to everyday life. I’m no writer, and I’m not some profound introspective philosopher, but I am someone who’s experienced enough life to have an opinion about it. I hope you’re able to connect with the writing expressed here and that you find something you can use on your journey towards animation.
